Sustainability

Let’s make a better place for you and for me

In LISBON BIKE RENTALS® , we speak to leading experts and look into the research that has been done surrounding ecologic procedures without forgetting the safety of riding bikes in Lisbon. Our solutions intend to avoid the use of paper, Co2 and to minimize the use of water on our daily activities while granting access to the best service that every cyclist should get when they only are contributing to minimize air pollution emissions.

Cycling heals the world…

With BICYCLE ECOLOGY we provide certified ecological procedures in unforgettable moments. An interdisciplinary study of the relationship between bicycles and the natural, constructed, and social environments in which they are a part of. Ecology is a way of looking at the world which emphasises the assessment and understanding of how the pieces fit together, how each influences and is influenced by the other pieces and how the whole operates in ways not really predictable from the individual pieces. The purpose of BICYCLE ECOLOGY® is to understand the harmonious diffusion of a bicycle into the universe and the role it plays in the advancement in ecosystems natural ecology, social systems and sociology, well-being, psychology and anthropology.

PAPERLESS COMPANY

Portugal is one of the most heavily forested countries in Europe, but the vast majority of woodland – 85%, according to the World Forest Institute – is privately owned. Forest ownership is highly fragmented, with privately owned plots averaging only five hectares (12.7 acres). Much of the area in flames is dominated by eucalyptus Monoculture forests, an Australian species introduced to Europe in the 18th Century but which really boomed in Portugal with the rise of paper industries in the mid-20th Century. Wildfires are an annual menace in Portugal. More broke out there between 1993 and 2013 than in Spain, France, Italy or Greece, reported the European Environment Agency last year, despite the country’s relatively small geographical size.

How does it work? To succeed in the digital age, Lisbon Bike rentals need lean, integrated — and most of all digital processes to support our business. Finance and legal agreements who prioritize fast, connected, and insight-led payments to succeed in the digital age. Our Solutions are integrating systems with automated payment tools that can generate important operational efficiencies, such as reduced manual labor and costs as well as greater visibility and control over payments.

  • This digital information is then exported to a customized workflow where it is processed and is routed to the appropriate operators if needed.  All of this happens automatically, and once manual steps (such as a management approval) are completed the document continues on to its next step with no additional action required on the operator’s part.
  • Once booking is complete and a payment authorized, the invoice as the information about its transaction are exported to the final customer and to the Portuguese financial authority.  Here, it can be access for compliance can be easily pulled up by our team for customer service, management, or legal needs.

Be a visionary and work towards making a reality!

ZERO EMISSIONS COMPANY

Is it correct, we don’t use cars or fossil energy source on our daily activities. Considering that we still receive requests for delivery and collect services of bikes to customers facilities. The delivering service it’s one of the most important incomes on a bike rentals and touring company, and not for Lisbon Bike Rentals. We need to fundamentally transform the economy and adopt a global goal to phase out greenhouse gases completely by mid-century. Deep decarbonization, starting immediately and leading to a zero-carbon society by 2050 or shortly thereafter, is key to future prosperity. This long-term goal, paired with strong national commitments, including a price on carbon, and a possibility to ramp up ambition via regular reviews, are essential elements of the Paris agreement. Fossil fuel subsidies should be removed urgently, and investment should be redirected to spark a global renewable energy revolution, warranting energy access for all and particularly for those most in need. The remaining global carbon budget – the limit of what we can still emit in the future – must be well below 1000 Gt CO2 to have a reasonable chance to hold the 2°C line. Humankind has already emitted around 2000 Gt CO2 since the beginning of industrialization. Respecting the global carbon budget means leaving at least three quarters of all known fossil fuel reserves in the ground. With current emissions trends, the remaining 1000 Gt CO2 would be used up within the next 25 years.

How does it work?We do have the best facilities and selected bikes for cyclists. Our shop is located on a premium location at the Lisbon down-town. In our front door begins the best routes for an outstanding Lisbon bike ride. Lisbon Bike rentals customers can take nice shower after a ride and they will be ready to continue to enjoy Lisbon in a different style.

SAFEGUARD ECOSYSTEM

WE!

We must safeguard carbon sinks and vital ecosystems, which is as important for climate protection as the reduction of emissions. Cutting down forests and degrading grasslands and aquatic systems is like killing our best allies in the fight against climate change. A precondition for sustainability is the strengthening, not the weakening of the resilience of natural and managed ecosystems and food production systems.

We need to fundamentally transform the economy and adopt a global goal to phase out greenhouse gases completely by mid-century. Deep decarbonization, starting immediately and leading to a zero-carbon society by 2050 or shortly thereafter, is key to future prosperity. This long-term goal, paired with strong commitments.

AMAZONIA EVERYWHERE

We support with 10‰ of our incoming projects related to the native conservation and reforestation. We believe that humans can be part of an important moment. Humans are responsible of a Planet destruction but at the same time they can be part of a global program to save our Blue planet life. Planting trees clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity. Forests provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, and are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines. Ever taken an Aspirin? It comes from the bark of a tree!

Congratulations to Lisbon – the winner of the European Green Capital Award 2020

Lisbon is not a city of cars. In fact, it is near impossible to drive in this city, and the municipality’s ability to “priorities cycling, public transport, and walking” was noted as a key factor for the win. Lisbon reduced C02 emissions by 50% between 2002 and 2014, energy consumption by 23%, and water consumption by 17% between 2007 and 2013. This culminated in the city being the first European capital to sign the New Covenant of Mayors for Climate Change and Energy in 2016.

Human activity, predominantly the global economic system, is now the prime driver of change in the Earth System — the sum of our planet’s interacting physical, chemical, biological and human processes. This is the conclusion made visible in a set of 24 global indicators, or a “planetary dashboard”, charting the “Great Acceleration” in human activity from the start of the industrial revolution in 1750 to 2010, and the subsequent changes in the Earth System – e.g. greenhouse gas levels, ocean acidification, deforestation and biodiversity deterioration. The post-1950 acceleration of the human imprint on the Earth System, particularly the 12 graphs that show changes in Earth System structure and functioning, have played a central role in the discussion around the formalisation of the Anthropocene as the next epoch in Earth history.
